VICTORIA
By Amparo Jaramillo-Restrepo

Victoria!
Her little face
sparkling with joy
blows words in the air
as bubbles of soap.
English, Spanish
and baby talk,
mami, gua, gua
help, nana, me me!
She threads words
in her laughter string
a sweet cascade of sounds
bouncing in the room.
Victoria, her little mouth
shaped as a heart,
throws words in the air
as musical darts.
